After thoroughly enjoying her first Irish Tales book, I admit I was looking forward to her next installment. I also had the usually trepidations to see if the book would be as good as expected. I was not disappointed!Her short stories can best be described, by my way of thinking, as urban fantasy. She is able take the mundane world around us and suggests that there is more going on around us than we notice, if we would only take the time to look. As the title demonstrates there are three stories in the collection, each dealing with vastly different ideas, all set within modern day Ireland. Each is a classic representation of the short story with difficulties, and lessons learned without them weighing down the telling. The characters are believable and easy to relate to, giving the book a true feeling of a tale being told from one person to another. The difficulties, while fantastic, are not horrific making the book suitable for any age.
I found the stories to be engrossing and thoroughly enjoyable and perfect for an afternoon read. It is a book I am sure to soon pick up again.
