This is the second time I have purchased this book. I first bought it 25 years ago and have kept it in my library, referring to it throughout my career as a professional astrologer. For a basic book on astrology this is pretty thorough without being overwhelming. It has the typical "cookbook" building block series of references for each planet, sign & aspect, which is a useful information in understanding a chart. I usually recommend beginners start with The Inner Sky by Steven Forrest, but this is a good "next step" book for anyone wishing to delve deeper.

I found this book in the library, had it a few days and ordered it from a local bookstore because I had to have it. I found the aspects described (moon squared venus, etc., for example) to be very insightful. Not to many books can claim being 'complete', and strangely enough, this one doesn't, but it comes closer than any other I've picked up. I really love this book and thank the authors for writing it; I wouldn't be without it.
If you are learning about astrology, you'll also love Stephen Arroyo's "astrology, karma, and transformation", a wonderful book by him which compliments 'Compendium' well. All Arroyo's books are must-haves as well.
surprised that such an affordable book (especially if buy used for 1 penny plus shipping) could be such a good reference book for learning astrology.

Years ago I owned this book now after 43 years as a practicing professional Astrological counselor I have rediscovered the value of this fundamental reference work again.A must have for your metaphysical library for begginners and old hands at the practice.Very happy to have reacquired this one again.
It is a great book to have to expand your studies in astrological arts. A big book complete with easy as well as more complex interpretations and calculations for more accurate predictions. The "cookbook" is extensive and the writing itself is refreshingly flowing and easy to grasp. I like it...It has easily become a frequent go to. Im sure it will not disappoint any student or professional.
Accurate. Professional. Excellent prose. Indepth. Almost quintecenntial. Not all aspects given though.
